Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. She was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She participated as a member of the panel at 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout time, including fiscal reform, the budget as well as The Iran Contra affair. She traveled extensively with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
